This autumn, Moderna Museet Malmö presents Alice Neel: Painted Truths – the largest exhibition of this American artist ever to be shown in Scandinavia. With 59 works spanning more than 70 years, the exhibition fills the entire Turbine Hall and the new gallery at Moderna Museet Malmö.

The Singapore Art Museum (SAM) is proud to present the first solo exhibition of a Thai artist, Natee Utarit entitled, Natee Utarit: After Painting. This extensive exhibition, which is sponsored by Credit Suisse AG as part of the Bank’s “Innovation in Art” series, is a mid-career survey of one of the leading figures in contemporary Thai painting. It marks Natee Utarit’s biggest solo show to date and his first museum retrospective. It has been made possible through the museum’s close ties with key local and overseas partners in both the public and private spheres.

Lewis Baltz (b.1945) is one of the most prominent representatives of the “New Topographics” movement, which changed the direction of American photography in the 1970s and has had a formative impact on every generation since. However, Baltz’s innovations began already in the 1960s. The Art Institute of Chicago has organized the first survey ever of Lewis Baltz’s inaugural body of work, the Prototypes (c. 1967-1973). The exhibition also puts on view for the first time in 12 years Ronde de Nuit, a monumental work of the early 1990s.

Four Works in Dialogue comprises Post-Partum Document (1973-79) and related work Primapara, The Ballad of Kastriot Rexhepi (2001), Multi-Story House (2007) and the recent piece Habitus (2010). Part V of Mary Kelly’s groundbreaking work Post-Partum Document was acquired for the Moderna Museet collection in the course of the project “The Second Museum of Our Wishes”, and in this exhibition, the complete work is being presented in Sweden for the first time.

Titian and the Golden Age of Venetian Painting: Masterpieces from the National Galleries of Scotland

The High Museum of Art, in collaboration with the National Galleries of Scotland (NGS), will present an exhibition of 25 masterpieces of the Venetian Renaissance—12 paintings and 13 drawings—that will include two of the greatest paintings of the Italian Renaissance, Titian’s ―Diana and Actaeon‖ and ―Diana and Callisto‖ (1556–1559). The two monumental paintings have never before traveled to the United States. The exhibition will also include paintings by Tintoretto, Veronese and Lotto from the collection of the National Galleries. The High’s presentation of ―Titian and the Golden Age of Venetian Painting: Masterpieces from the National Galleries of Scotland‖ launches a new collaboration between the High and NGS, with additional exhibitions currently under development.

Norton’s Monet in Major Exhibition at the Grand Palais, Paris

The Norton Museum of Art is pleased to announce its participation in the first major exhibition of Claude Monet’s work in over 30 years, taking place at the Grand Palais in Paris from September 22, 2010 to January 24, 2011. The extensive exhibition will display over 200 paintings from international museums, including the Norton’s revered Monet, The Moreno Gardens at Bordighera.

Amalia Pica (b. 1978) works with sculpture, photography, film and installation. Pica’s exhibition at C-salen, Malmö Konsthall, will be her first institutional show in Northern Europe. It presents new works produced in 2010; a combination of different approaches including performative, sculptural, filmic, and photographic objects, as well as texts and ready-mades. They all work autonomously but will come together as an installation.

On 2 October, Moderna Museet opens the new edition of The Moderna Exhibition, its recurring inventory of the most interesting recent developments in Swedish contemporary art. The Moderna Exhibition 2010 features 54 artists, 28 women and 26 men, who have made a strong impact on the Swedish art scene. Most of the works have never been exhibited to Swedish audiences, and more than half of the works have been produced specifically for this exhibition.

The Guggenheim and YouTube, in collaboration with HP and Intel, announced today the shortlist for YouTube Play. A Biennial of Creative Video. Selected from more than 23,000 submissions from 91 countries, the 125 shortlisted videos can now be seen on the YouTube Play channel at youtube.com/play and at kiosks in the Guggenheim museums in New York City, Berlin, Bilbao, and Venice.
