The Chinese artist Ai Weiwei was arrested at Beijing International Airport on April 3, 2011, and has been detained since at an undisclosed location. Neither his family nor his team knows where he is. His arrest, which is part of a wave of repressive measures against critical intellectuals and artists, has been heavily criticized internationally.

Michelangelo Pistoletto is one of the pre-eminent contemporary artists working today. Born in Biella, Italy, in 1933, Pistoletto was a leading figure in the development of both Arte Povera and conceptual art. He began as a painter in the mid-1950s, and in the 1960s received critical acclaim for his series of Mirror Paintings. These works broke down the traditional notions of figurative art, reflecting their surroundings and the viewer as a part of the image, linking art and life in an ever-changing spectacle.

The Serpentine Gallery presents a new exhibition conceived by Mark Leckey. In a multi-disciplinary practice that encompasses sculpture, sound, film and performance, Leckey explores the potential of the human imagination to appropriate and to animate a concept, an object or an environment. Drawing on his personal experiences as a London-based artist, who spent his formative years in the north of England, Leckey returns frequently to the themes of desire and transformation.

Over 60 pieces of original artwork will be on display, featuring highlights from some of the most celebrated artists in Green Lantern’s publishing history Iconic works by Silver Age artists Gil Kane and Neal Adams will be exhibited, along with classic stories and covers by Joe Staton, Mike Mignola, George Perez, Brian Bolland, Brent Anderson, Bill Sienkiewicz, Golden Age Greats Irwin Hasen and Green Lantern co-creator Martin Nodell.
