In the installation by Tomas Saraceno at the latest Venice Biennial, Galaxies Forming along Filaments, like Droplets along the Strands of a Spider’s Web, thousands of strands filled the room, forming an enormous web with bubble-vessels clustered inside.

Dr. Harold “Doc” Edgerton redefined the limits of vision, showing things invisible to the unaided eye by stopping time and making it possible to witness split seconds.

The Moscow Museum of Modern Art opens the first show of the “World Masterpieces of Livre d’Artistes” exhibition program. Classic examples of the livre d’artiste are almost not represented even in the largest Russian museums. However, this synthetic form of art is one of the links connecting visual art and literature, artists, publishers, and writers from all over the world.
The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art announced a cumulative gift of 400 works of art from 75 patrons, given in commemoration of The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art’s 75th Anniversary. The hundreds of masterworks span cultures, chronologies and media and include one of the most important private collections of Impressionist art in the United States. These extraordinary gifts—which also honor Director/CEO Marc F. Wilson’s 28-year tenure—include masterworks by Monet, Manet, Pissarro, Van Gogh and Cezanne.

The Cuban-American artist Jorge Pardo, widely regarded as one of the most influential artists of his generation, returns to the Irish Museum of Modern Art (IMMA) with his first major solo exhibition in Ireland on Wednesday 17 February 2010. Jorge Pardo is a challenging retrospective that uses the architecture of the Museum to embrace the world of swiftly changing technology and question how art can be innovative and relevant in the 21st century.

Marking the centenary of Scott’s epic voyage to the South Pole, the Getty Images Gallery, in association with the Scott Polar Research Institute, is presenting a new photographic exhibition which will feature the work of Herbert Ponting, the photographer who accompanied the expedition. “The Journey South” will run from 4th February until 6th March.
Marilyn Lysohir: Good Girls 1968

Good Girls 1968 is an installation that consists of over 160 ceramic portraits of young women with whom Marilyn Lysohir graduated from high school. The installation involved reconnecting through hours on the phone with many of the girls captured in the portraits. Lysohir is a renowned ceramicist and although Good Girls 1968 is grounded and created from one person’s point of view, this exhibition transcends the personal and discovers its impact while touching the audience’s cultural memory and reminiscences.
