A powerful image of the face of a 2,500-year-old Egyptian mummy at The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art has been created by special agents/forensic artists from the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), as unveiled today at the Museum.
The Delaware Art Museum is pleased to announce that Dr. Margaretta Frederick has been appointed as the institution’s Chief Curator, a position that has been vacant since 2002. Dr. Frederick serves as the Curator of the Museum’s Samuel and Mary F. Bancroft Collection of Pre-Raphaelite Art. As part of her expanded position, she will lead the curatorial vision for the Museum’s upcoming Centennial celebration, which includes a major exhibition of the works of Howard Pyle. Dr. Frederick’s new position is effective immediately.

Mr Lars Nittve, a renowned museum director and curator with years of experience heading world-class facilities such as London’s Tate Gallery of Modern Art and Stockholm’s Moderna Museet, has been appointed Executive Director, M+ of the WCKDA. In his new capacity, Mr Nittve will be responsible for all content and exhibitions of Museum Plus (M+), a groundbreaking new museum concept planned at the future West Kowloon Cultural District (WKCD), and the Exhibition Centre with focus on arts, culture and the creative industry.

New York City-based artist Gunnar Theel has donated his installation Skye Group (3) to the James A. Michener Art Museum in honor of the late Robin Larsen, founder and director of the New Hope Arts Center. On loan by the artist since 2007, the welded steel sculpture is on view outside of the Museum along Pine Street in Doylestown.

The Singapore Art Museum (SAM) and the Centre Pompidou (CP) from Paris take a step forward this morning in strengthening cultural alliances between Singapore and France in the field of contemporary art. Both sides signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for future cooperation to enhance the development and showcase of contemporary art, building upon a wider government-to-government framework agreement signed by Minister for Foreign Affairs George Yeo and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the French Republic Bernard Kouchner in January last year.
After its successful debut in 2009, the Peggy Guggenheim Collection and Aperol invite visitors to HAPPYSPRITZ@GUGGENHEIM, the ‘art’ aperitif, which last year attracted to the museum over 4,000 people who shared a cocktail of culture, music and Aperol in the magical setting of Palazzo Venier dei Leoni.
