The Cartoon Art Museum proudly presents original works of art from the feature film ParaNorman, produced by LAIKA, the Portland-based animation studio owned by Nike co-founder and Chairman Philip H. Knight, and released nationwide by Focus Features on August 17, 2012. The exhibition features concept art, puppets, costumes and more from the upcoming film, LAIKA’s second stop-motion animated film to be shot in 3D. In stop-motion animation, everything seen on screen actually exists in the real world, as opposed to computer-generated animation.

A major exhibition of works by the Scottish Colourist painter Leslie Hunter, covering his life in San Francisco, Scotland, France and Italy, will go on show at The Fleming Collection at 13 Berkeley Street, London W1 from 23 October 2012 to 9 February 2013. Over 70 pictures, two-thirds of which are from private collections, will be exhibited at The Fleming Collection, which has become an embassy for Scottish art in London, in the show entitled Leslie Hunter: A Life in Colour. The exhibition is sponsored by Lyon & Turnbull, Scotland’s oldest firm of auctioneers.

With the exhibition Picasso/Duchamp “He Was Wrong”; the Moderna Museet in Stockholm sets two giants, Pablo Picasso and Marcel Duchamp, up against each other for the first time. They are often regarded as the two most influential artists of the 20th century – Picasso, who personified the modernist painter, and Duchamp, the indifferent ironist and chess genius, who challenged painting and transformed art into a maze of intellectual amusements. Now, visitors to the Moderna Museet have a unique opportunity to witness this battle of giants and see where it leads.

Mike Nelson

MIKE NELSON – 408 tons of imperfect geometry

Mike Nelson (b. 1967) is one of the most appreciated artists of his generation. His work predominantly features sculpture and meticulously constructed, large-scale architectural installations. In this new work created for Malmö Konsthall, Nelson uses the institutional architecture as a backdrop for a massive concrete workshop. The exhibition space is divided by a glass wall into two spaces; a smaller production workshop and an exhibition space stripped back to its original configuration.
