From October 1, 2010, to January 9, 2011, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum will present Intervals: Ryan Gander, the third installment of its contemporary art series designed to reflect the spirit of today’s most innovative practices. For his Intervals project, Ryan Gander (b. 1976, Chester, United Kingdom) has created a new, site-specific installation for the museum’s Aye Simon Reading Room.

The Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation, together with YouTube, the world’s largest online video community, today announced the launch of YouTube Play. A Biennial of Creative Video. A collaboration with HP, YouTube Play was conceived to discover and showcase the most exceptional talent working in the ever-expanding realm of online video. Open to the global online community, YouTube Play is the most inclusive international search for new creative video.

Digital Art @Google: Data Poetics

Google and The Project Room for New Media at Chelsea Art Museum (CAM) in New York are launching an exhibition program, “Digital Art @Google NYC”, which will engage Googlers with the art world and promote creativity with digital technology. The exhibitions and artist talks, which will take place at Google, Inc, will be open to guests at times indicated on the Chelsea Art Museum’s website.

Kenneth Noland, 1924–2010: A Tribute

In honor of the late Kenneth Noland (b. April 10, 1924, Asheville, N.C.; d. January 5, 2010, Port Clyde, Maine), the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum presents Kenneth Noland, 1924–2010: A Tribute, on view in the level 4 Thannhauser Gallery from May 21 to June 20. One of the great American abstract painters of the second half of the twentieth century, Noland had his first major retrospective at the Guggenheim Museum in 1977.

The Chelsea Art Museum is pleased to present 0910 Light Shots by Raphaele Shirley, a site-specific multi-media artwork for The Project Room for New Media. In this new work Raphaele displays her dexterity in use of diverse mediums and materials such as light, fog, sensors and mirrors by which she carves ephemeral sculptures in time and space, re-evaluating elemental yet elusive aspects of the world around us.
