Dwayne Wilcox: Above the Fruited Plains

Missoula Art Museum is delighted to host Dwayne Wilcox: Above the Fruited Plains. Wilcox’s approach is quite simple; he uses graphite and colored pencils to alter old ledger paper. Ledger Art has a rich history with the Plains people, but like many contemporary artists, Wilcox uses the ledger paper as a platform for contemporary expression.

Doug Russell: Confluences

Doug Russell is a visual artist who lives and works in Laramie, WY. His exhibition, Confluences, is a large, concise body of work encompassing three separate series of drawings. Each series explores the passage of time and cyclic changes through Russell’s visual language of layered, evolving marks and transparency centered on monumental compositions.

Dog’s Journey: A 20 Year Survey

Missoula Art Museum is honored and delighted to host Dog’s Journey: A 20 Year Survey by one of the region’s most celebrated artists. Rick Bartow was born on the coast of Oregon at Newport in 1946, not far from his ancestral lands in northern California. Bartow is a Native American of Wiyot heritage and this cultural foundation has played a large role in his art as a source of imagery and story. Additionally, he has always acknowledged a deep debt to contemporary Native American artists such as Fritz Scholder, Joe Feddersen, Lillian Pitt, and James Lavadour.

Haddon Hufford: Silversmith

Missoula Art Museum is pleased to present Haddon Hufford: Silversmith. Haddon Hufford is a master silversmith practicing his craft near Frenchtown, MT. Though he has lived in the Missoula Valley since 2006, the Missoula Art Museum was unaware of this inimitable craftsman working within close proximity until Hufford submitted to the Montana Triennial in 2009.
