Amy Martin is a cartoonist from Chicago who now lives in San Francisco. She has been self-publishing comic books since 2004, and has completed twelve books. She is the creator of The Single Girls, Bachelor Girl, and The Girls Are Mighty Fine.

On Saturday, October 9, the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego will open Collection Applied Design: A Kim MacConnel Retrospective, an exhibition that surveys four decades of work by San Diego-based artist Kim MacConnel. The first full-career retrospective to be presented in San Diego of this influential artist, Collection Applied Design will be on view through January 23, 2011, at MCASD’s La Jolla location.

This retrospective will feature a selection of Paley’s syndicated comic strips, illustrations, and a series of prints, paintings and behind-the-scenes materials from Sita.

Roman Muradov won Commonwealth Club graphic novel contest

As part of the “Rise of the Graphic Novel” panel discussion at the Commonwealth Club on Monday, April 25, 2010, the Commonwealth Club organized a cartooning contest for local artists. The winner of the contest, Roman Muradov, will have his artwork featured on the Cartoon Art Museum’s website.
