The Delaware Art Museum presents Delaware by Hand: Masterworks, featuring 30 works of art as part of the first juried exhibition of Delaware by Hand, on view November 14, 2009 – January 17, 2010. Founded in 2001, Delaware by Hand is an association of 200 artists and artisans, all living and working within the State of Delaware. This exhibition offers selections that continue Delaware’s colonial, nautical, and agricultural traditions, as well as those of the multicultural present. The works are in various media, including glass, ceramic, wood, and fabric, along with paintings, drawings, sculpture, and jewelry.

The jurors for Delaware by Hand: Masterworks were Dr. Jacqueline Atkins, Curator of Textiles, Allentown Art Museum, Allentown, PA, and Dr. J. Susan Isaacs, Assistant Professor of Art, Towson University, Towson, MD. They selected the following 15 artists from 46 entrants: Virginia Abrams, Deb Appleby, Elizabeth Bard, David Burslem, Paula Camenzind, Connie Costigan, Tom Frey, Michael Krausz, Dolores Pye Josey, Steve Rogers, Maxine Rosenthal, Rick Rothrock, Peter Saenger, Barbara Warden, and Sarah Yeoman.

Selections by all 15 artists will be available for sale in the Delaware Art Museum Store.

Delaware by Hand: Masterworks is part of the Delaware Art Museum’s Outlooks Exhibition Series. Exhibitions in this series are created by residents and organizations of our surrounding area, contributing to the Museum’s mission of providing an inclusive and essential community resource.
