[...] TEFAF Maastricht, the world’s finest art and antiques fair, has always insisted on exhibiting only the best. Two very different displays of artistic genius will be part of The European Fine Art Fair’s Silver Jubilee celebrations at the MECC (Maastricht Exhibition and Congress Centre) in the southern Netherlands from 16 – 25 March 2012. An exhibition of master drawings by some of the greatest artists in history, including Leonardo da Vinci, Guercino, Rembrandt van Rijn and Peter Paul Rubens, has been loaned by the Fondation Custodia in Paris. In sharp contrast the first-ever BMW Art Car, created by the American artist Alexander Calder in 1975, will also be on show at TEFAF 2012. [...]

Hi,

I'd like to discuss how GumGum can help you better monetize artartworks.com.

As some background, we are the largest in-image ad network, reaching over 100 million unique users per month. We help leading online properties like TMZ and the San Francisco Chronicle drive additional revenue from their images on a CPM basis.

Are you free for a brief call so I can show you some live examples?

Hi Joanne,
So sorry I didn't see your post sooner. I am so glad you enjoyed my exhibit and thanks for looking so closely at the details! Yes, I did cover the buttons. If you examine period garments you will find that many are very "badly matched". (This used to make me crazy as well.) Fabric was expensive in those days and most women had few dresses so more emphasis was placed on a fashionable silhouette than perfectly matched patterns. People often added strips of a new fabric to repair worn sections or lengthen a garment for a child. Leftover bits of dress fabric would have been used to make trimmings or cover buttons. Of course, the wealthiest women would have had the finest gowns but the home-sewer, making her own day dress, especially during the war, would have used every last scrap!

I'm actually working now on an article for the Army Historical Foundation on how wars have influenced fashion.

Thank you for your question and the compliments!

Amazing works of art, but surprisingly creepy! I use horse hair on my bow, but somehow rubberizing it just freaks me out more! Still, I love this art.
