Geniuses of Modern British Sculpture

In March 2012, Robert Bowman Modern will be holding a selling exhibition of the greatest Modern British Sculptors. 2012 marks the 60th anniversary of the seminal 1952 Venice Biennale that first introduced the exciting work of a new group of young British sculptors including Kenneth Armitage, Lynn Chadwick, Bernard Meadows, Edouardo Paolozzi and William Turnbull.

This spring Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen will be showing a selection of works from the Collection of Istanbul Museum of Modern Art, the first private museum in Turkey that organizes modern and contemporary art exhibitions. The exhibition, put together by the Chief Curator of stanbul Modern, Levent Çalıkoglu, is the first large-scale show of contemporary art from Turkey in Rotterdam.

Eija-Liisa Ahtila: Parallel Worlds

Eija-Liisa Ahtila is one of the most internationally recognised Nordic contemporary artists. Since her breakthrough in the 1990s, she has been a trailblazer in the development of cinematic installations. Eija-Liisa Ahtila’s works operate in the borderlands – questioning and exploring the conventions of the cinematic idiom and challenging habitual perspectives. Her position in the world of film became clear to a wider audience when she was on the jury for feature films at the Venice Film Festival in 2011.

Joan Hernandez Pijuan – Retrospective

Joan Hernandez Pijuan (1931-2005) is one of the most celebrated Spanish painters of the last decades. He produces compositions through uniform planes of neutral color in a simple yet expressive style. Pijuan has received many honors and prizes and is reckoned among the most significant European artists of the 20th & 21st centuries.

John McNamara: A Survey of Paintings
